What Measure D Does

Requires voter approval for major changes and development projects on plazas

before they are repurposed, sold, leased or developed

before land use changes alter or remove convenient, shaded public parking

before private development on public plaza land

Prioritizes our village character and walkability for shoppers and local merchants

Safeguards beautiful trees, canopy, open space, and their environmental benefits

Acknowledges importance of surface-level distributed parking as a contributor to local business and community vitality.

Adds a vital checkpoint in our City Planning to avoid costly million-dollar mistakes and moving forward with projects that lack public support.

Provisions for affordable housing on two plazas (Plaza 7&8) as specified in the City's Certified Housing Plan that meets state mandates without voter approval.

Aligns with similar voter approval requirements in City's own public land ordinances today for parks and civic lands.
